On Monday, asset protection expert, Steve Oshins, released his annual rankings of the various state domestic asset protection trust statutes. Ohio's asset protection trust law, known as the Ohio Legacy Trust Act, which took effect on March 27, 2013, debuted at Number 4 on the list. Although we were behind Nevada, South Dakota, and Alaska, we ranked above Delaware and 9 other states. This is impressive, considering the law has only been effective just over a month. What this means for Ohio residents and those in neighboring states, if you are interested in an asset protection trust, there are high ranking laws that may be applied, without sending assets to far away states.
