Moving Forward Act passes through the House of Representatives but faces uncertain future
In a 233 to 188 vote, the House of Representatives successfully adopted the Moving Forward Act, a $1.5 trillion infrastructure bill intended to drastically improve American infrastructure and guide the country towards greener and renewable energy sources. The legislation passed through the House of Representatives with significant debate. Supporters of the Moving Forward Act assert that the bill will stimulate the country’s economy and create innumerable job opportunities while completely transforming America’s infrastructure. Opponents argued that the bill is an effort to pass the Green New Deal as part of a highway and infrastructure bill. The Green New Deal was initially introduced by House Democrats in 2019 and urged the United States to curb the use of fossil fuels while also promising the creation of high-paying jobs in clean energy industries.
