CHICAGO Stephen J. Rosenfeld has been named Co-Chair of the Business Litigation Practice Group of McDonald Hopkins LLC, where his more than a quarter-century of experience, including previous service as managing partner of a Chicago law firm, will help to guide the practice group into the future.

Rosenfeld joins Michael Latiff as co-chair, enhancing the Chicago presence of a Business Litigation Practice Group that that has consistently expanded its profile during the last seven years under Latiff ‘s leadership. Latiff, who is based in the firm’s Detroit office, also serves as a member on the McDonald Hopkins Board of Directors.

“I am honored and looking forward to helping to grow the national prominence of the group that has vast experience in assisting clients in successfully navigating complex and high-profile litigation,” Rosenfeld said.

Rosenfeld made an immediate impact as a member of McDonald Hopkins Litigation Department when he joined the firm in 2018 after serving as managing partner of Mandell Menkes in Chicago. Arriving with a mature and sophisticated practice based on extensive experience in complex commercial litigation involving, among other matters, information technology and intellectual property disputes, Rosenfeld and his established national client base helped to expand the firm’s litigation footprint in Chicago and beyond.

“Steve has been a leader since he joined McDonald Hopkins, and becoming Co-Chair is a natural progression for him and the firm that enhances the stature of the practice group in Chicago and nationally,” said Jim Giszczak, chair of McDonald Hopkins Litigation Department.

Rosenfeld’s cases in state and federal courts and before arbitration panels have involved technology and licensing disputes, commercial contract disputes, patent litigation, trademark infringement claims, copyright infringement claims, defamation claims, misappropriation of trade secret claims, claims of violations of restrictive covenants, claims involving alleged violations of the federal securities laws, and insurance coverage disputes.

Steve earned his J.D. in 1993 from the University of Illinois, graduating cum laude. He completed a B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1990. Prior to beginning his law practice, Steve founded a computer consulting firm concentrating on the development and implementation of custom software designed to manage mid-sized distribution and services companies.
