Crain's Cleveland Op-Ed: There are legal and labor challenges to reopening the economy

Dashing the hopes of many, the process of reopening the American economy will not be as simple as the flip of a light switch. As many state officials and business leaders have suggested, it will be a slow process — perhaps painfully slow. A more apt analogy might be the turning of a dimmer switch, gradually moving from dark to increased light.

Fortunately, with governors throughout the country considering what coordinated regional economic restarts will look like and the federal government contemplating timetables based on the hope that social distancing will continue to slow the spread of the coronavirus, the time has come for businesses to begin planning for how to reopen, and how to do it safely.
