PUCO Chairman and Lawmaker Todd Snitchler
Joins McDonald Hopkins

Columbus, Ohio (April 14, 2014) – Todd Snitchler, who served for three years as chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) and was a state representative in Ohio’s 50th District, has joined McDonald Hopkins as a member of the business department in its Columbus office. He will counsel the firm’s national client base on issues related to energy policy and strategy, government affairs and regulatory matters.

“Todd’s knowledge of the inner workings of government and immersion in energy policy pairs well with his 360-degree view of law – from practicing it to writing it,” said Carl J. Grassi, firm president. “He will give clients a sound perspective based on his unique understanding of how government really works and how objectives are accomplished across complicated legal terrain.”

Snitchler was a member of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) where he served on the Board of Directors, was co-vice chair of the association’s committees on gas, as well as on the committee on International Relations. He also served as second vice president of the Mid-Atlantic Conference of Regulatory Utilities Commissioners (MACRUC). “Todd’s involvement with the NARUC and MACRUC, along with his PUCO experience will enhance the services provided by the talented group of attorneys in our Energy Practice,” said Charles B. Zellmer, chair of the business department.

Snitchler says working with the firm is a “perfect match” for him. “McDonald Hopkins is a well respected firm with significant resources to provide value in a one-stop shop. I’ll be doing the work I want to do with people I trust. It is a class outfit from top to bottom.”
Snitchler is unable to argue cases before the PUCO for a period of two years, but will be able to practice before commissions in other states, regions and at the national level.

Snitchler earned a J.D. from The University of Akron School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in history from Grove City College.
