(January 11, 2017) – McDonald Hopkins’ national Intellectual Property Department recently announced new leadership for the firm’s Patent, Trademark and Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Groups.

  • Todd Benni becomes chair of the Patent Practice Group, a team of attorneys who assist and advise clients at all stages of the patent process. Benni assists clients in strategic client counseling and preparation of legal opinions on all intellectual property matters, domestic and foreign patent preparation and procurement in the mechanical, electro-mechanical, and business method arts, preparation and procurement of domestic and foreign trademarks, and acquiring and managing domestic and foreign domain names.
  • James Dimitrijevs becomes chair of the Trademark Practice Group, a team of attorneys who handle all aspects of trademark counseling, protection, and enforcement throughout the world. Dimitrijevs is currently also Vice Chair of the Intellectual Property Department, and has served as chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the past. He oversees the worldwide trademark assets for major retailers as well as consumer products and industrial manufacturing companies. He advises clients on developing strategies for protecting all forms of trademark rights, including rights exercised in e-commerce; takes advantage of international treaties and local laws to execute such strategies; and litigates judicial and administrative intellectual property disputes in the U.S. and oversees such disputes in other jurisdictions. 
  • David Movius becomes chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group, a team of attorneys who aggressively prosecute intellectual property claims and zealously defend clients against claims by competitors, non-practicing entities, and others. Movius has extensive experience litigating patent, trademark and trade dress, copyright, trade secret, unfair competition, and public records disputes in federal and state courts, both at trial and on appeal, and he is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
