Sherri focuses her practice on data privacy, cybersecurity, and employment law.

Data privacy and cybersecurity: Sherri handles data breach response, including compliance with state and federal data breach notification laws, and compliance measures including policy development and workplace training. She advises clients on data security incidents and data breach response, including, legal analysis of state, federal and global laws, drafting notifications, frequently asked questions, and regulator notifications. Sherri also drafts data security policies, procedures, and workplace training.  She has experience in several industries including workplace privacy, higher education and K-12 schools, and health care.

Labor and employment counseling: Sherri has extensive experience advising employers on issues relating to litigation prevention, leaves of absence and disability management, wage and hour, noncompetition, employment discrimination, harassment and retaliation, employee discipline, hiring and termination, drug testing, reductions in force, and cybersecurity compliance. She advises clients to ensure compliance with state and federal laws, such as the FMLA, ADA, FLSA, ADEA, and civil rights laws.  Sherri represents clients before state and federal administrative agencies, and in state and federal court. She conducts training to employees and management on workplace and compliance issues as well.

Prior to joining McDonald Hopkins, Sherri served as corporate counsel to a U.S. based manufacturing and related long haul transportation company where she regularly advised internal clients on compliance with state and federal laws, including employment disputes and managing day to day HR/employment law issues. Sherri also managed employment litigation, administrative charges, workers compensation, EHS, and general liability litigation.

Prior to working in house, Sherri practiced law at a Michigan defense firm in labor and employment counseling and litigation.

Sherri earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law and a B.A. from Michigan State University's James Madison College.
