This report by Information Handling Services (“IHS”) provides an excellent state-by-state overview of the impact of unconventional oil and gas. The economics are truly staggering. Over the next 20 years, IHS is projecting MILLIONS of new jobs and TRILLIONS of new tax revenue (most of it federal).
The report helps highlight the point that the economic benefits also exist for non gas/oil producing states. The report states, “less well-known are the economic benefits that accrue to non-producing states that lack oil and gas resources but nonetheless host firms that sell goods and services that are critical to the lengthy supply chain supporting unconventional oil and gas development.”
