Veteran Prosecutor Edward Kraus joins McDonald Hopkins law firm

Cleveland, Ohio, (July 8, 2013) – Edward H. Kraus has joined the Cleveland office of McDonald Hopkins as Of Counsel in the firm’s Litigation department.

Kraus joins the firm from the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office where he was the Supervising Attorney for the Cuyahoga County Mortgage Fraud Task Force. During his tenure, Kraus worked with a variety of organizations including the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Ohio Department of Commerce, and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff. He successfully organized and implemented one of the largest and most comprehensive mortgage fraud prosecutions in the country.

For 27 years, Kraus has had oversight of investigations, jury and bench trials, and appellate work. He also has extensive skills in the areas of commercial, collection and business litigation.

Kraus earned his J.D. from Cleveland Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ohio State University. He is currently Vice-Mayor of the City of Solon, Ohio, and has more than 10 years of experience on the Solon City Council where he serves on the Safety Committee and chairs the Enterprise Zone Committee. Previously, he served on the Planning Commission, Recreation Commission, and the Public Works Committee.
