As Chair, Smith will be leading a team of experienced attorneys who represent a broad range of financial institutions and financial service providers. With expertise in a variety of legal areas, the Commercial Finance team works with clients on complex transactions throughout the life of their loan.
Smith is also a member of the Business Department and Real Estate Practice Group at McDonald Hopkins. He focuses his practice on commercial finance, real estate, and general corporate transactions, representing lenders, borrowers, entrepreneurs, and companies. His commercial finance experience includes assisting in the representation of lenders and borrowers in a variety of transactions including: commercial and industrial loan transactions; asset-based finance transactions; real estate acquisition, development, and construction loan transactions; and structured and mezzanine finance transactions. Smith has a diverse financial background, having worked in the securities industry as a portfolio analyst for a large investment firm prior to joining McDonald Hopkins.
Smith is a graduate of Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, having earned his J.D., summa cum laude, in 2005. He received a B.S.B.A. from John Carroll University in 2000.
