Kathleen Stearns sworn in as WLAM-Wayne Region President

McDonald Hopkins associate Kathleen Stearns was sworn in as the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan-Wayne Region president on Wednesday, May 25. 

"It was such an honor to be sworn in as President of the WLAM-Wayne region," said Stearns, who is an associate in the Litigation Department of the McDonald Hopkins Detroit office and is part of the firm’s commercial litigation team. "The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan. This organization has always worked to  advance the interests of women members of the legal profession and to promote equality and social justice for all people.

"The Wayne Region is dedicated to providing engaging and informative programming to our members. We often have networking events with judges and with affinity bar associations in the region. WLAM-Wayne hosts a regular book club and plans a spring wellness event each year. It is truly an honor to serve as the President of the Wayne Region. I am looking forward to working with the 2022-2023 board to continue in this tradition of providing quality events and resources for our members.”

Stearns focuses her practice on commercial litigation and general litigation matters. She has litigated a wide variety of business matters such as shareholder oppression, breach of contract, conversion, business torts.

Stearns works with a diverse range of commercial clients from sole proprietors to large corporations. She works with both employers and employees on employment retaliation claims, ELCRA matters, and wrongful termination litigation. She also has experience in receiverships and insolvency matters
