McDonald Hopkins Government Strategies Taps Christopher Barron as Director of Communications Practice

(Washington, D.C.)--- Today, McDonald Hopkins Government Strategies LLC (MHGS) named Christopher Barron as Director of Communications. Barron is the former president of CapSouth Consulting, a full-service communications firm, and the former co-founder and Chairman of the Board of GOProud. For the last two years, Barron has served as a consultant to MHGS, a Washington, D.C.-based subsidiary of McDonald Hopkins LLC. The president of MHGS is former U.S. Rep. Steve LaTourette (R-OH).
“McDonald Hopkins Government Strategies is thrilled to announce that Chris Barron will serve as the Director of our Communications Practice,” LaTourette said. “Chris brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our firm.” Barron is a communications specialist with a history of communicating complex issues to a wide variety of audiences. He has worked with a wide range of clients and represented individuals and interests across the political spectrum.
As the Director of Communications Practice for MHGS, Barron will provide the firm and its clients with comprehensive communications, public relations and media relations services. He has served as, and will continue to serve as the press representative for LaTourette.

His previous client list has included state and national political organizations and interest groups, as well as candidates and elected officials on the local, state and federal level.
In his time as a consultant to MHGS, Barron has helped to create media and public relations strategies for clients on a range of issues. His efforts and expertise have helped clients position themselves effectively on the inside and outside of key policy discussions. Barron has assisted clients with brand development, issue messaging and message amplification, media content, media placement, crisis communication strategies, and much more.
In addition to his work for a variety of clients, Barron has an extensive personal resume of media appearances. He has appeared himself, as well as placed clients, on numerous national and local television channels, including MSNBC, NBC, CBS, CNN, CNN Headline News, Fox News, and ABC News. Similarly, Chris has also appeared, as well as had pieces placed for his clients, in numerous print mediums nationwide, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Chicago Tribune, The Dallas Morning News, San Francisco Chronicle, and The Atlanta Journal Constitution. Chris has also appeared, as well as secured appearances for his clients, on a wide variety of national, regional and local radio outlets.
Barron graduated with honors from the Wake Forest University School of Law and received his undergraduate degree from East Carolina University.
