McDonald Hopkins welcomes John C. Karras to Business Department in Chicago
CHICAGO — John C. Karras has joined McDonald Hopkins LLC as an associate in the Business Department of the firm’s Chicago office.
Prior to joining McDonald Hopkins, Karras served as legal counsel and compliance manager for a specialty pharmaceutical company, where he assisted with drafting and submission of Sunshine Act reporting requirements with CMS, preparing Anti-Kickback policy and procedures, WAC price increase reporting, and general state reporting requirements. While there, he was involved in the launch of the first FDA approved adjunctive treatment for adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccines, working on contract drafting and negotiation related to purchase orders and distribution, and assisting with compliance with state filings and fulfillment of state-mandated notice requirements.
Karras has experience drafting, negotiating, and executing commercial and transactional agreements, performing acquisition due diligence and integration, managing data privacy compliance, and navigating the complex regulatory landscape that governs the healthcare industry.
Karras earned his JD from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he focused on corporate and transaction law and participated in the university’s federal tax clinic. He earned a BA in English, with honors, from Emory University.
