McDonald Hopkins welcomes Patrick Campbell to national Healthcare Practice Group
CLEVELAND — Patrick Campbell has joined the Cleveland office of McDonald Hopkins LLC as an associate in the Business Department and part of the firm’s national Healthcare Practice Group. As an American Society for Clinical Pathology board certified medical laboratory scientist, Patrick spent 10 years working for the Cleveland Clinic Foundation before the start of his legal career as a healthcare attorney.
Patrick’s practice primarily focuses on compliance matters, with experience that includes organizing successful compliance programs, including the creation of compliance committees, incident reporting structures, and routine audit processes. He is also experienced with managing issues related to HIPAA , drug diversion, Medicare and third party payor billing, and Stark/Anti-Kickback laws. Patrick has navigated HIPAA breach and data privacy incidents, including consulting and collaborating on the preparation of investigation responses. He is knowledgeable on the Ohio Administrative Code for rules relating to telehealth, Medicaid, and the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. Patrick also has experience preparing materials for accreditation evaluation by the Council on Accreditation.
During his time as a medical laboratory scientist at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Patrick gained extensive experience working with moderate and high complexity testing. As a lead technologist, he standardized laboratory procedures, coordinated competency assessments, and managed the laboratory’s training program. . Patrick is also experienced in preparing laboratories for the biennial accreditation inspections by the College of American Pathologists.
Patrick received his B.S. in Investigative and Medical Science from Saint Louis University. He went on to study at the Cleveland Clinic School of Medical Technology, before receiving his J.D. from Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
