Beginning August 31, 2017, new rules regarding the prescription of opioids for the treatment of acute pain (the “rules”) established by the State Medical Board of Ohio will take effect. These new rules are designed to curb the opioid epidemic in Ohio, one of the hardest hit states in the nation.

As the number of data breaches continues to rise, states are responding with increasingly frequent and divergent changes to their data breach notification laws. Delaware and Maryland join the growing number of states to continue this trend based on recent amendments that were made to those states’ respective statutes.
