Data privacy and cybersecurity attorneys Karen Bridges and Edward Grahovec join McDonald Hopkins
McDonald Hopkins is proud to announce the addition of two new attorneys, Karen Bridges and Edward Grahovec, to its national Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group. The arrival of Bridges and Grahovec to the group is merely the latest milestone in a continuous influx of new talent, reflecting McDonald Hopkins’ commitment to be a destination firm for businesses in need of our service, as well as a destination for data privacy attorneys who are looking to grow their practice.
"We continue to add talent and diversify the services offered by our national data privacy and cybersecurity team. The stakes continue to rise for our clients, who are facing more and more high-tech threats every day. With the addition of Karen and Ed, our group's skillset and ability to successfully handle any problem a client faces continues to grow and evolve, too,” said Dominic Paluzzi, the Co-Chair of McDonald Hopkins Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group.
Bridges is Counsel in the group and specializes in breach response, specifically in advising clients on how to contain exposure, conducts forensic investigations and enhancing protection of privileged communications. She has experience handling hundreds of cyber incidents, data breaches and class actions related to breaches. Though she is skilled at breach response, she is also able to work though all parts of a potential cyber incident including pre-breach policy review.
Bridges has successfully represented numerous entities responding to data breach class actions, including New York cases that set the standard for standing in data breach cases and is certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
“I chose to join McDonald Hopkins because I loved that the firm makes data privacy and cybersecurity a priority. You can see it in not just the knowledgeable and experienced attorneys that are a part of the firm, but in the technology they’ve invested in to assist the attorneys handling these matters,” she noted. “McDonald Hopkins is able to help clients with all aspects of cyber law rather than focusing solely on breach response.”
Grahovec is an Associate in the group. His practice focuses on incident notification, response, and breach coaching. This includes counseling clients through cyber incidents, assessing the legal implications of a breach, and managing various forensic and data mining teams to, ultimately, contain the breach to prevent further loss of sensitive business and personal information.
“McDonald Hopkins first drew me in with not only the excellent work that they do, but the people within their group. I have gotten to know a few of them over the years and I have the utmost respect for the team. As I’ve gradually met other folks at McDonald Hopkins, I quickly realized that this is the destination for me to grow and develop my practice,” said Grahovec.
Grahovec also counsels clients through regulatory investigations, communicating with state and federal regulators, including state Attorneys General, state Departments of Insurance, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Education, and the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Civil Rights. Prior to the start of his legal career, he worked at a healthcare technology company where he gained knowledge of healthcare compliance and HIPAA-related privacy matters.
