McDonald Hopkins welcomes Associates Benjamin Foote-Huth and Suyung SongĀ
McDonald Hopkins is pleased to announce the firm’s newest associates, Benjamin Foote-Huth and Suyung Song. Benjamin is a part of the Intellectual Property Department and Suyung joins the Strategic Advisory and Business Restructuring Department.
The two both previously served as law clerks at McDonald Hopkins.
“It’s so nice to see young talent, who trained here in law school, want to return to McDonald Hopkins post-graduation to begin their legal careers. We are a destination firm because of our knowledge and service but most importantly, because of our people and culture. Ben and Suyung returning as first-year associates just solidifies that notion. Their futures are bright,” said Jim Stief, co-president of McDonald Hopkins.
Ben has experience in all aspects of intellectual property including patents, litigation, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, emerging technologies, and more. Prior to his time at the firm, he was a judicial extern for the Honorable Benita Y. Pearson of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. There he drafted memorandum aiding the court in legal research and decision making.
Ben earned his JD from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law. During his time in law school, he was an Executive Editor of the Case Western Reserve Law Review. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola of Chicago University with a major in Biology and a minor in neuroscience. He is located in the firm’s Cleveland office.
Suyong’s practice focuses on corporate restructuring, bankruptcy, and insolvency proceedings and strategic advisory matters for clients in a variety of industries. While in law school, she was a judicial extern for the Honorable Timothy A. Barnes in the Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Prior to starting her legal career, Suyung worked as a youth behavior interventionist and then as an accounts administrator for two community health organizations in British Columbia.
Suyung earned her Juris Doctor with a certificate in Business Law from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she was part of the Moot Court Honor Society and served as the treasurer for the Bankruptcy, Insolvency, and Restructuring Association and the secretary for the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia. She is located in the firm’s Chicago office.
