Overview

Farzana Ahmed is an Associate in the Litigation Department at McDonald Hopkins and part of the firm’s national Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group. Her legal career is marked by her experience in advising clients on cybersecurity incident notice obligations under state and federal laws, managing breach response, and drafting communications with regulators, businesses, and insurance carriers.

Prior to her time at McDonald Hopkins, Farzana helped individuals with digital currency tax compliance at a tax law firm specializing in cryptocurrency. She also clerked at a small intellectual property, social media, entertainment and business law firm where she drafted privacy policies and supported counsel with social media litigation.

Farzana earned her Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law, where she distinguished herself as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Art, Technology & Intellectual Property Law. During her time at DePaul, Farzana also played a pivotal role as President of the Muslim Law Student Association and was the recipient of several honors, including the Benjamin Hooks Public Service Award and the Chancellor’s Award for Service. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Studies from Knox College.
