Overview
Jamya is an Associate in McDonald Hopkins’ Litigation Department and a member of the Energy Practice Group. She specializes in a wide range of energy-related matters, including regulatory compliance, renewable energy, oil and gas production, and competitive market issues. Her practice, specifically, focuses on real property matters, including eminent domain lawsuits and easement issues, significant personal injury and property damage lawsuits.
Her practice also extends to commercial litigation, financial services, professional liability, labor and employment law, medical malpractice, long-term liability, probate, estate planning, and more.
Prior to joining McDonald Hopkins, Jamya gained valuable experience as a legal extern at a global power management company and a major energy provider. At the energy company, she worked on regulatory compliance, environmental matters, labor and employment issues, and litigation, while also gaining first-hand knowledge of the gas industry's operations and compliance needs. Key highlights of her experience at the power management organization include negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, e-discovery, arbitration, and more.
Additionally, Jamya was an energy law clerk at McDonald Hopkins before returning to the firm as an Associate.
Jamya earned her Juris Doctor from Cleveland State University College of Law, graduating cum laude. While in law school, she served as the Vice President of the Black Law Students Association. She received a Bachelor of Science from Bowling Green State University.
