Overview
Jeffrey A. Deiuliis, Ph.D. is an associate in McDonald Hopkins’s Intellectual Property Department. Jeffrey is experienced in all areas of intellectual property law, including patent prosecution and litigation, trademark, copyright, and fair competition. His work includes prosecuting patent applications, counseling clients on freedom to operate in a patented space, and litigating infringement of intellectual property rights.
With a doctorate in molecular biology and nutrition from the Ohio State University, Jeffrey held faculty appointments at the University of Maryland Baltimore and Case Western Reserve University in their schools of medicine, held grants from the National Institute of Health, and has 35 peer-reviewed publications in respected scientific journals. As CWRU faculty, he held appointments in the Cardiovascular Research Institute and the Center for RNA Science and Therapeutics. Jeffrey also directed CWRU’s Mouse Metabolic Phenotyping Core – a state-of-art facility which offered service to principal investigators and pharmaceutical companies characterizing mouse metabolism in response to myriad treatments. He has reviewed grants for a number of organizations including University College of London and the American College of Surgeons, was an editorial board member for a respected basic-science journal, and provided scientific peer review for more than 18 academic journals in the area of cardio-metabolic disease and microRNA biology.
Jeffrey began his legal career as an extension of his passion for scientific discovery and his appreciation for the property rights that are granted by our government as part of its recognition of the importance of scientific discovery and innovation. He understands the enormous efforts put forth by inventors, in addition to the ethical and financial importance of protecting rights in intellectual property.
