Overview
Kate is an Associate in McDonald Hopkins’ Litigation Department. She has developed a diverse legal background spanning criminal defense, healthcare compliance, and legal research. She has experience preparing litigation materials, analyzing complex legal issues, and providing strategic support to clients.
Prior to her current role, Kate worked as an attorney at a criminal defense law firm, where she represented clients in criminal proceedings by preparing pleadings, appearing in hearings, and developing defense strategies. She also gained experience in healthcare compliance while clerking at University Hospitals’ Office of In-House Counsel, analyzing legal issues impacting major medical facilities. Kate further honed her litigation skills during her time at a personal injury law firm, preparing complaints and discovery materials for personal injury cases and researching issues involving nursing home abuse, medical malpractice, and insurance claims.
Kate’s legal foundation was strengthened through clerkships with the City of North Olmsted Law Department and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio.
In addition to her legal practice, Kate worked at LexisNexis as a Large Law Research Consultant, providing training and strategic support to law firms and academic institutions on a broad range of legal research tools.
Kate earned her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where she served as an Editor for Health Matrix: Journal of Law-Medicine. She has a B.A. from the University of Toledo in Law and Social Thought.
