Overview
Michael is an Associate in McDonald Hopkins’ Intellectual Property Department, where he specializes in patent prosecution. His practice is focused on securing and protecting intellectual property rights in a variety of technological fields, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and software systems.
Michael has extensive experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO, guiding clients through the entire process, from responding to office actions to coordinating the prosecution of related foreign patents. He is proficient in conducting patentability searches, preparing legal opinions on non-infringement and validity, and providing strategic counsel on patent-related matters.
Michael's clients range from individual inventors and startups to established engineering groups and research institutes. He is dedicated to understanding each client's unique technological innovations and business goals, ensuring their intellectual property is robustly protected.
Michael earned his Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University, where he focused on Intellectual Property law and actively participated in the Intellectual Property Venture Clinic. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Management from the University of Cincinnati. His technical background includes hands-on experience with machining centers, automated production systems, and natural gas power systems, among other advanced technologies.
Admitted to the Ohio State Bar in 2018 and registered to practice before the USPTO since 2019, Michael combines his legal expertise with his engineering knowledge to provide comprehensive IP solutions that meet the needs of today’s innovators.
