CLEVELAND – The Space Generation Advisory Council has announced the appointment of McDonald Hopkins Associate Stephen Robison as co-lead counsel for the global, non-governmental, non-profit organization.

“As space is the final frontier, I am excited to be representing university students and young space professionals to the United Nations, space agencies, industry, and academia,” said Robison, who is an associate in the Litigation Department at McDonald Hopkins and a member of the firm’s national Data Privacy and Cybersecurity team.

In his role Robison will be working with his Co-Lead, Adeife Ayomide JIDE-OMOLE from the Federal Republic of Nigeria, managing all legal tasks at the organization as the acting in-house counsel.

The SGAC was conceived at the Third United Nations Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Space (UNISPACE-III) in Vienna in 1999, with an executive council made up of representatives from each of the six UN regions, and has a larger body of representatives from nation states.

“Overall, the SGAC supports the United Nations Programme on Space Application and has permanent observer status in the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space,” said Robison. “It focuses on pragmatic space policy, providing advice to policy makers based on the interests of students and young space professionals from around the world.”

The SGAC’s newly recruited team members from April were announced on the organization’s website.

Robison joined McDonald Hopkins in March of 2022. He is experienced in the areas of data privacy and cybersecurity, government contracts, national security, defense, technology and space. As part of McDonald Hopkins’ national Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group, Robison helps companies assess and respond to data privacy and cybersecurity incidents, including investigation of security incidents, breach notification obligations and compliance, and post-breach responses. His practice also includes providing clients with proactive, pre-breach services that focus on protecting personal, sensitive and confidential information and minimizing the risk of a data privacy incident.
